Come along and guess the song!

Twice a week, I will post a very short story. Not just any ole story, but a story based on a popular love song or piece of art. This song could be from any decade, the only criteria being that it was and is well known both here in the UK and across the Pond.

Do you recognise it? Have a guess and let me know. It would also be fun to hear if this is what you thought the story behind the song was or did you have something totally different in your imagination?

I'll let you know the answer in my next blog post (I hope to post on Tuesdays and Fridays so as not to leave you too long to wait :) )

Have fun!

Here's todays, Friday the 19th October. The next post will be on Tuesday.

Without thinking, he leant in and kissed her, running his hand up the outside of her thigh. His breathing ragged, it was only when she turned her head away with a hiss that rational thought seeped through his passion. He followed her look to see a friend, a good friend watching him.

Like she was a hot coal, he jerked away from her, cursing inwardly. Damn. Firstly for allowing his passion to ignite and secondly for being caught. Especially by his friend.

Fortunately, the girl got the message for she sidled along the wall, and ran.

Please don’t say anything, he whispered. Then, hailing a cab, he went home to the woman he loved.

A couple of weeks later he took her out dancing to their favourite club.

It was where they had first met. He was instantly drawn to her dancing. After a cat and mouse game on the dance floor, finally she was in his arms and the two of them moved as one. He had never danced with anyone like that before.  It was heaven, poetry-in-motion, all the clichés he could think of.

He went to the bar and bought them both a drink. He came back to see her talking to his friend, his good friend.

The look she cast him was devastated.

She knew.

He had to have one more dance. He took her hand and she acquiesced, one last time.

  4. I don't know the song, but I liked the story! Love the inspiration for blog articles... When I wrote fan fiction, it was common practice to take a song and write a story based on the lyrics.

    Fantastic website!!!!!

  5. I enjoyed the story. I know the song, but only because you mentioned it in a message I saw earlier. For what it's worth, it is known over here (at least by me, who grew up in the 1980s).
